You are invited for a Wednesday Program with His Holiness Jayadvaita Swami on July 18. He will also give a morning Srimad Bhagavatam class on Thursday, July 19.

About our guest:

Jayadvaita Swami — editor, writer, publisher, and teacher — is a disciple of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.

He served as an editor or assistant editor for nearly all the books of Srila Prabhupada published during Srila Prabhupada’s lifetime.

He received initiation from Srila Prabhupada in 1968, at the age of nineteen.

Practically the first task assigned to him was to staple booklets. He later went on to typing manuscripts, transcribing Srila Prabhupada’s dictation for books, and then typesetting, proofreading, managing book production, and editing.

He has lectured extensively at colleges and universities, especially in the United States.

In 1978 he accepted the order of renounced life, sannyasa.

In 1985 and 1986, he spent a year and a half traveling with a party of pilgrims on pada-yatra, a journey on foot, through various states of India, stopping in a different town or village every night.

In 1987, along with Dhanurdhara Swami and Bhurijana Dasa, he co-founded the Vrindaban Institute for Higher Education.

Since 1988 he has served as a director of Srila Prabhupada’s publishing house, the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust. He now oversees the work of the BBT in Africa.

From 1991 through most of 1998 he served as editor in chief of Back to Godhead magazine, for which he had been an assistant editor for several years.

He served as the senior editor of a three-volume translation and commentary (publication completed in 2005) for Sri Brhad-bhagavatamrta, a sixteenth-century Sanskrit philosophical and devotional work by Srila Sanatana Gosvami, and, by the same author, Sri Krishna Lila Stava (published in 2008). He has also served as the senior editor for Srila Jiva Gosvami’s Tattva-sandarbha (published in 2013). His main editorial service now consists of training new editors.

He does not initiate disciples.

Apart from his services in publishing, he travels widely, teaching about the philosophy and culture of Krishna consciousness.

Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa Puja - Tuesday, September 4

Vyasa-puja is an annual celebration by the devotees of Lord Krishna to offer homage to their guru, or spiritual master. Vyasa-puja means “worship of Vyasa,” Vyasa being the compiler of the Vedic scriptures and thus the original spiritual master.

The ceremony takes place on the spiritual master’s appearance day. Disciples honor their guru because he authentically transmits the teachings of Vyasa.

Although the International Society for Krishna Consciousness has many spiritual masters, or acaryas, Srila Prabhupada, its founder-Acharya, holds a permanent position of special esteem. So just as when he was physically present (1965 through 1977), each year his disciples and followers gather on his appearance day to praise him and recall his glories.

Schedule:

10:00AM-11:45AM – Homages to Srila Prabhupada
11:45AM-12:00PM – Pushpanjali (Offering flower petals to Srila Prabhupada)
12:00PM-12:45PM – Guruvastakam & Guru Puja Arati (Call & response singing)

Lord Krishna Himself describes the reason for His appearance as follows:

paritranaya sadhunam

vinsaya ca duskrtam

dharma-samsthapanrthaya

sambhavami yuge yuge

To deliver the pious and annihilate the miscreants, as well also restablish the principles of religion, I Myself appear millennium after millennium.

You are invited for celebration of the appearance day of Srimati Radharani on Sunday, September 16 and Monday, September 17. We will be honored to celebrate with His Holiness Candramauli Swami on both days.

Srimati Radharani is the eternal consort of Lord Krishna. Five thousand years ago, when Lord Krishna came to this planet to perform His pastimes, Srimati Radharani also appeared. This special day is known as Radhashtami. On this day only one may take darshan of Srimati Radharani's lotus feet, which are covered on all other days. The day of Radhastami is spent by the devotees in reading the transcendental pastimes of Radharani and Her gopi friends, and Her lila pastimes in the groves of Vrndavana with Krishna.

Devotees carefully worship Srimati Radharani as the bestower of devotional service to Krishna, by attentively chanting Her name in the maha-mantra, by worshiping Her Deity form, and by following the instructions of the most merciful Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who is the combined form of Radha and Krishna.

As a part of continuing education and training we are offering a seminar on Total Life Cleanse: Detoxification and Nourishment for Body, Mind and Soul  by  Nimai Caitanya Das, aka, Jonathan Glass M.Ac, Ayurvedic Practitioner on Sun Oct 28 from 7:30 - 8:30 pm in Sandipani Hall (2nd floor ISKCON Boston temple)

Health is about feeling your best, so you can fulfill your dharma and practice bhakti! But, does feeling your best sometimes feel like an uphill battle? Are you looking for stronger immunity and greater energy, calm and clarity? Did you know that learning essential principles of Ayurveda can act as a bridge to sharing bhakti? Ancient Ayurvedic wisdom and modern science both agree; cleansing, healthy plant-based eating and lifestyle and spiritual practices greatly benefit the body, mind, and soul. However, most of us need guidance, knowledge and inspiration to make meaningful and lasting changes. If you’re ready to explore this wisdom-based-approach to how you can feel and be your best and learn how to share the wisdom, this class is for you!

• The best dietary and lifestyle practices for body, mind and soul
• Six commonsense Ayurvedic principles of health and healing
• Five major stressors to health in the modern age
• Why cleansing and clean eating is so essential today, more than ever
• Real cleansing, the Five Goals of Life and health from the Vedic perspective
• The bhakti-health connection-a bridge to teaching Bhakti Yoga through Ayurvedic wisdom

Facilitator's Bio:
Jonathan Glass, aka Nimai Caitanya Das, is an Acupuncturist, Ayurvedic Practitioner and author of The Total Life Cleanse. He has a private practice in Concord Ma. Early in his practice, Nimai was frustrated by patients who wanted to get better but didn’t due to poor dietary and lifestyle practices. This challenge led to the creation of the Total Life Cleanse. As a child, Nimai was plagued by severe allergies, asthma and bronchial infections. Although athletic, they impacted his energy and interrupted his ability to participate. After an asthma attack during a varsity college soccer game, he was given a book by the owner of a local health food store. That day, his life changed. The book described the importance of cleansing, healthy plant-based eating, yoga and meditation. Immediately he made changes and quickly experienced symptomatic relief. Astonished, he soon eradicated all medications, eliminated allergies, increased lung capacity and again excelled in sports. This experience initiated his interest in acupuncture, Ayurveda, yoga and eventually, Bhakti Yoga-which he has been practicing for over thirty-five years. Nimai’s mission now, is to assist others to wake up to their divine potential for optimal health in body, mind and soul. As a Master Acupuncturist and Ayurvedic Practitioner for the past twenty-five years, and author/ founder of the Total Life Cleanse: A 28 Day Program to Nourish and Detoxify your Body, Mind and Soul, Nimai takes great pleasure in witnessing the transformation of his clients--through ancient-wisdom-based medicine and Bhakti Yoga principles that are meant for these times. To learn more about Nimai and the Total Life Cleanse and to receive his free gift, Foods to Eat and Foods to Avoid for Optimal Health!

TENTATIVE - Sunday Feast With HH Varsana Swami - October 21

There is a chance we will receive a very special guest in Boston, His Holiness Varsana Swami. Maharaja's health isn't very good at the moment, so we have to wait and see and pray that he will be able to

give us a Sunday Feast class on Sunday, October 21. Please mark your calendars and come here for any updates.

Few words about Maharaja:

Varsana Swami was born in 1950 in Morristown, New Jersey. From childhood, he was deeply drawn to the workings of the natural world. He became a vegetarian of his own accord at the age of seven and was determined to lead a life of compassion. As a young man, his search for meaning manifested in studying theology in college, visiting ashrams, and hearing from different gurus.

Finally, in 1972 he had the great fortune of meeting his beloved spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada. That encounter had such a profound impact on him that he was inspired to join the Brooklyn temple. Shortly thereafter he went to New Vrindavan and began what is now over four decades of devotional service.

Maharaja has performed a variety of seva over the years that includes raising and training draft animals for farm work; pujari service; conservation work; and heading up the excavation department, which is responsible for literally carving out the infrastructure and holy places of New Vrindavan.

Currently he is continuing his conservation work and is actively developing the lila-sthanas in New Vrindavan, focusing on the establishment of the Govardhan Parikrama. This is being done in conjunction with Dham Seva (a nonprofit organization dedicated to Srila Prabhupada’s desire that the holy places of Vraja appear in New Vrindavan). When not serving in New Vrindavan, Varsana Swami travels as an advocate and dedicated supporter of the farm movement within ISKCON. Varsana Swami is the author of the book Sri Gaura Lila and Appreciating New Vrindavan Dhama.

You can also visit his website www.varsanaswami.org.
